May 27, 2026, 66, Greenville, NC – “JD” Avelino Deleon Jr. passed peacefully in his sleep on May 27, 2026. Preceding him in death are his parents, Jewel Brugh and Frank Deleon of Goldsboro, North Carolina. JD leaves behind his beautiful daughter and the treasure of his life, Metta Deleon, along with sisters, Sherri Teachey & Wendi Deleon; brothers, Joseph Deleon & Steve Deleon and many nieces and nephews.
Despite the suffering in his lifetime, JD maintained a great sense of humor (even pursuing a short stent in standup comedy), ultimately with the knowledge of the great peace that transcends all understanding (Phillippians 4:7). His story and the memory of his spirit do not end with his time on this earth, but rather continues through his belief in the scriptures, knowledge and acceptance of Jesus as the way, the truth and the life, and the redemptive power of Christ’s love.
Through hardships, the hope that God provides is the only foundation for life into eternity. No matter our trespasses, Jesus Christ paid the price with His life that grants us freedom from the burden of sin and despair, granting us new life and renewing our soul in His never-ending peace. Our worries, our anxieties, depressions and fears are cast out, and the deep, faithful grace of the Lord overflows through belief, salvation, and redemption.
Ultimately, JD is remembered by the gathering of his family, fellow believers, and friends who bore witness to his life, memory, and passage.
