GOLDSBORO, NC – Downtown Goldsboro will be filled with school pride and hometown spirit Saturday morning as alumni and supporters gather for the 71st Annual Dillard/Goldsboro Alumni Foundation Homecoming Parade.
The City of Goldsboro and Wayne County are welcoming home Dillard/Goldsboro alumni along with Central and Eastern Wayne alumni for the annual celebration, which is expected to draw large crowds to the downtown area.
The parade is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and will travel along Center Street from Spruce Street near The HUB to Mulberry Street before returning along the same route.
Officials announced several temporary street closures to accommodate the parade and ensure pedestrian safety. Streets along the parade route will close beginning at 8 a.m. Additional closures include:
- Spruce Street from Center to George streets
- Pine Street from John to George streets
- Center Street from Mulberry to Elm streets
- James Street from Spruce to Elm streets
Drivers are encouraged to plan alternate routes and allow extra travel time Saturday morning.
The annual homecoming parade has become a longstanding tradition celebrating alumni, community pride and the rich history of local schools in Wayne County. Organizers say the event continues to serve as a reunion for generations of former students and families returning home to reconnect and celebrate their roots.
