WAYNE COUNTY, NC — Wayne County Government has announced schedule changes and facility closures in observance of Memorial Day on Monday, May 25, 2026.
County government offices will be closed Monday and will reopen Tuesday, May 26, during normal business hours.
All branches of the Wayne County Public Library will also be closed for the holiday and will resume regular operations Tuesday.
The Peggy M. Seegars Senior Center will be closed Monday and reopen Tuesday during normal business hours.
In addition, the Wayne County landfill and convenience centers will be closed Memorial Day and will reopen Tuesday.
Officials also announced that the Wayne County Animal Shelter will be closed Monday and reopen Tuesday.
Residents are encouraged to plan accordingly for county services affected by the holiday schedule.
