GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Community members across Wayne County are invited to come together in reflection and unity as part of the annual National Day of Prayer this Thursday, May 7.
Hosted by the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce and its LIFT (Leading in Faith Together) Committee, the local observance will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Goldsboro Family YMCA. The event is free and open to the public.
The National Day of Prayer, established in 1952 by Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman, is observed annually on the first Thursday of May. It invites Americans of all backgrounds to gather in prayer for the nation through community events, services, and moments of reflection.
This year’s theme, “Glorify God Among the Nations,” centers on worship and collective prayer, encouraging participants to seek wisdom, peace, and direction for their communities and beyond.
Organizers say the Goldsboro gathering will provide a meaningful opportunity for residents to pause from their daily routines and join together in a spirit of unity—lifting prayers for Wayne County, the country, and the world.
All are welcome to attend, regardless of background or affiliation.
