MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Town of Mount Olive has issued an alert to residents regarding a temporary disruption in water service and multiple road closures as crews complete sewer line repairs this week.
Water service will be interrupted on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in affected areas. Officials say the disruption is necessary to allow for essential infrastructure work and encourage residents to plan accordingly.
In addition to the water outage, several road closures are scheduled through Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. East Pollock Street, between Gordon Street and Jefferson Street, will be closed beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 4, and will remain closed until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Gordon Street, from Pollock Street to East Main Street, will also be impacted, with closures in place from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 4, and again from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5.
Meanwhile, South Johnson Street will experience water service disruption only on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with no road closures reported in that area.
Town officials advise motorists to seek alternate routes and use caution when traveling near work zones. Residents impacted by the water outage are encouraged to store water in advance and limit usage during the disruption window.
The repairs are part of ongoing efforts by the Town of Mount Olive to maintain and improve its sewer infrastructure system.
