April 20, 2026, 95, Goldsboro – Donald Caswell Rouse (DC) Rouse Jr., born July 12, 1930, in Sumter, South Carolina, to Donald and Glennie Rouse, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.
He spent most of his life in Goldsboro, North Carolina, where he graduated from Goldsboro High School. He went on to attend North Carolina State University, where his studies were interrupted when he answered the call to serve his country during the Korean War. Following his service, he returned to NC State and earned his degree in Civil Engineering.
He dedicated much of his professional life to the construction industry, working for over 20 years with T.A. Loving Company. Even into his later years, his strong work ethic never wavered—he continued working until the remarkable age of 87, retiring from Davidson & Jones Construction in Raleigh.
He was a man of strong faith who loved the Lord and found great joy in reading. In his younger years, he was an avid runner and is remembered as one of the early pioneers of running in Wayne County. He also had a deep love for golf and spent many enjoyable days on the course until arthritis made it difficult for him to continue.
He is survived by his four children: Lisa Melton (Brent), Don Rouse III, Julie Jackson (Jeff), and Suzanne Rouse (Todd Ramsey); five grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Bill Rouse; and his wife, Ann Purcell Rouse.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Navion of Goldsboro for their compassionate care and kindness.
A private service will be held by the family. Friends are invited to visit at the home of Jeff and Julie Jackson on Tuesday, April 28th 6:00-7:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Saint Michael’s Episcopal Church, Raleigh, or Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Goldsboro.
