April 18, 2026, 67, Goldsboro – Edward Earl Johnson, 67, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at UNC Wayne Health in Goldsboro.
Edward was born in Lenoir County on May 6, 1958, to the late Ralph and Nadine Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Pam Johnson.
A dedicated and hardworking man, Edward retired on December 31, 2025, from Utility Meter Services after many years of faithful service. He was a man of simple joys who found great happiness in watching sports. Edward was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the UNC Tar Heels, rarely missing a game and always cheering on his teams with enthusiasm.
Above all, Edward treasured his family. He shared 34 loving years of marriage with his wife, Lisa Williams Johnson, and took great pride in the close relationships he maintained with his extended family. He had a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews, who brought him much joy, as well as his great-niece, who he adored.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service to celebrate Edward’s life at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel, with Pastor Andrew Hise officiating. A private interment will be held on Thursday at the Whitley-Williams Family Cemetery.
Edward is survived by his beloved wife, Lisa Williams Johnson; his sisters, Wanda Arnette and Jean Stalnaker; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jamie and Lynn Williams; his cherished nieces and nephews, including Reid Williams, Seth Williams, and Meredith Williams; and his great-niece, Lila Williams, along with many other extended family members and friends who will deeply miss him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the New Hope Friends Youth Fund, 4451 U.S. 70 East, Goldsboro, NC 27534, or to a youth charity of one’s choice.
Edward will be remembered for his quiet strength, his love for his family, and the joy he found in life’s everyday moments. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
