FREMONT, N.C. — A Fremont man has been arrested following a suspicious structure fire Saturday evening in downtown Fremont.
According to the Fremont Police Department, officers and the Fremont Fire Rescue Department responded to a reported structure fire at 103 E. Wayne Street at approximately 7:20 p.m. on April 11, 2026.
Upon arrival, emergency responders found an unoccupied building actively on fire. Firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control and extinguished it. No injuries were reported.
Following an investigation, officials determined the fire to be suspicious in nature. Authorities subsequently identified a suspect and took him into custody.
Police charged Timothy Joshua Daniel, 36, of Fremont, with:
- Burning Certain Buildings (Felony)
- Resisting a Public Officer (Misdemeanor)
Daniel was transported to the Wayne County Detention Center, where he is being held without bond. Authorities said Daniel was on probation and pre-trial release for unrelated charges at the time of the incident.
