RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina Foundation for Public School Children will honor Mt. Olive Pickle Company and CEO Bobby Frye as this year’s Champion for Children during the 13th Champions for Children Gala on Friday, May 1, at the The Angus Barn Pavilion.
The annual event recognizes individuals, businesses, and organizations whose programs and philanthropic efforts have made a lasting impact on children across North Carolina. The evening will include a silent auction and dinner honoring those committed to improving the lives of young people statewide.
This year’s recognition comes as Mt. Olive Pickle Company celebrates 100 years of operation, marking a century of economic impact in rural North Carolina and a product recognized nationwide.
Under Frye’s leadership, Mt. Olive Pickle Company has supported numerous organizations and initiatives, including:
- University of Mount Olive
- Wayne Community College
- Boys & Girls Club of Mount Olive
- Local volunteer fire departments and rescue agencies
- Make-A-Wish Foundation
- Wayne County Public Schools
- Other local and national organizations
Officials say the company’s continued support has helped strengthen education, student well-being, and community development throughout the region.
Marca Jones, Executive Director of the foundation, praised the company’s commitment to children and education.
“Our organization believes that educators must be champions for all children, but non-educators choose to be the champions that our children need,” Jones said. “Mt. Olive Pickle Company and CEO Bobby Frye have chosen to be the champions that our children and young adults deserve. For their leadership, we are proud to honor them.”
Lynn Williams said the company is grateful for the recognition and remains committed to supporting student success.
“We value the efforts of organizations and individuals who work with our local public-school children to support learning and well-being,” Williams said. “Supporting their work is an investment in student success today, and in stronger communities for the future. We deeply appreciate this recognition.”
The North Carolina community — particularly residents and supporters in Wayne County — are invited to attend and support both the honoree and the foundation’s ongoing work benefiting public school children across the state.
