Attendees can visit stations in the area to gain hands-on experience in different forensics disciplines. The event will provide activities involving fingerprinting, photographing a mock crime scene, microscopy, alternate light sources, analyzing bloodstain patterns, presumptive blood tests, and more.
WCC offers a Criminal Justice Technology program with a Forensic Science concentration, which focuses on the application of the physical, biomedical, and social sciences to the analysis and evaluation of physical evidence, human testimony, and criminal suspects.
“The Forensics Open House is a great way to invite the community onto campus and give them a hands-on look at what forensic science really involves,” said WCC Criminal Justice Technology/Forensic Science Coordinator Hope Bruehl.
“By engaging participants in interactive stations and real-world techniques, we’re not only sparking curiosity, but also showcasing the skills and knowledge our students develop in Wayne Community College’s Forensic Science program,” Bruehl said. “It’s a chance for people of all ages to connect with the field of forensic science in a memorable way.”
