This week’s WGBR Pet of the Week powered by Jackson & Sons, shines the spotlight on a lovable and intelligent pup named Goblin, currently waiting for his forever home at the Wayne County Animal Shelter.
Shelter representative Graham Price introduced Goblin during a Wednesday morning segment, describing him as a handsome dog with a great personality. Estimated to be between three and five years old, Goblin is believed to be an Australian Cattle Dog mix—often referred to as a “heeler”—known for their intelligence and loyalty.
“He’s very smart, as they always are, and we don’t know why he’s still here,” Price said. “He’s a sweet dog and deserves a good home.”
The shelter, located at 1600 Clingman Street, has recently updated its hours to make adoptions more accessible. Visitors are welcome Monday through Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., with walk-through viewing available from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. No appointment is necessary to meet Goblin or any of the other animals currently available for adoption.
While Goblin is the featured pet, the shelter reminds the community that many other dogs and cats are also in need of loving homes. For those who may find it difficult to view all the animals, staff can arrange a private meet-and-greet with a specific pet.
In addition to adoptions, the shelter is asking for donations—particularly wet canned food for both dogs and cats—to help care for the animals in their facility.
“We appreciate everyone who continues to support us and chooses to adopt their fur baby,” Price said.
