GOLDSBORO, N.C. — One of the community’s longest-running traditions is set to hit the streets once again as the Greater Goldsboro Road Run returns for its 47th year on Saturday, March 28.
Event organizer Scott Edwards says the race continues to grow each year, drawing both longtime participants and newcomers to the area.
“It goes so fast every year,” Edwards said. “We’ve got people who come back year after year, along with new runners joining in. It’s really become a staple in the community.”
The event features something for everyone, including a one-mile fun run, a 5K run or walk, and a 10K run. Both the 5K and 10K courses are certified, making them ideal for runners looking to log official times ahead of larger races.
The family-friendly atmosphere is a key part of the event’s appeal, with participants ranging in age from 4 to 84. In addition to the races, attendees can enjoy food, T-shirts, and awards across multiple age groups.
The race begins at 9 a.m. with a mass start at “The Hub,” located at the intersection of Center and Chestnut streets in downtown Goldsboro. All races will start and finish at the same location, with routes weaving through Center Street and surrounding areas including Warner, Jefferson, and Mulberry streets.
Packet pickup will be available Friday night at a local fire station, allowing participants to grab their race shirts and materials ahead of time.
Registration is available online through Run the East, which manages multiple races across eastern North Carolina and provides professional timing services, including real-time results and finish-line photos.
The event has been held annually since 1979, with the exception of one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and continues to be a highlight of the spring season in Goldsboro.
“We’d love to have you,” Edwards added. “It’s a great event for runners, walkers, and families alike.”
