WASHINGTON, D.C. — Don Davis (NC-01) is spotlighting major federal investments across eastern North Carolina after securing nearly $54 million in Fiscal Year 2026 Community Project Funding.
During a recent tour of communities throughout North Carolina’s First District, Davis emphasized how the funding will support 15 projects across nine counties, targeting improvements in infrastructure, public safety, and overall community development.
“Eastern North Carolina is our home, and our communities deserve support that makes it easier to live, work, and raise a family here,” Davis said. “With this nearly $54 million in federal funding, we are delivering projects that improve safety, upgrade water infrastructure, and build stronger communities where families thrive.”
A significant portion of the funding — $41 million — is dedicated to upgrades at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. The base will replace its aging Combat Arms Training and Maintenance (CATM) facility with a modern complex designed to better serve military personnel.
The new facility will include a 35-lane firing range, classrooms, administrative offices, and dedicated areas for weapons cleaning and maintenance. Plans also call for secure weapons and ammunition storage, along with a Security Forces Logistics and Readiness Warehouse featuring an armory and additional storage capabilities.
Officials say the investment will enhance training capabilities, improve safety standards, and ensure long-term readiness for service members stationed at the base.
Davis noted that directing federal funding to these projects not only addresses immediate infrastructure needs but also positions eastern North Carolina for future growth and resilience.
