February 20, 2026, 91, Pikeville – Edward E. Loveless, 91, passed away Friday morning at Wayne UNC Healthcare.
He is survived by his daughters, Ann Marshall (Chuck) of Goldsboro and Terry Loveless of Pikeville. Grandchildren; Sarah Herring (Bradley) of Fremont and Rainy Merritt of Supply, NC. Great-grandchildren; Tristen Herring, Lydia Boxley (Ian) of Supply, NC and Nolan Herring of Fremont. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Jones Loveless, his parents and all of his siblings.
Mr. Loveless was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, but grew up in Binghamton, New York where he graduated high school, then enlisted in the United States Air Force. After his enlistment, he worked as a civil servant. While stationed at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, he enjoyed coaching kids in football, baseball and basketball through the base and at the local boys club, he was affectionately known as “Coach Loveless.” He loved learning about anything involving history, specifically military history, he was known to read and watch whatever he could get his hands on.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either the American Diabetes Association or the Boys and Girls Club, 1401 Royall Avenue, Goldsboro NC 27530.
