GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Wayne Community College will welcome nearly 90 middle school students to campus on Thursday, Feb. 26, for its third annual Honors Choir Festival, a day dedicated to music, collaboration, and performance.
Students from six schools across Wayne and surrounding counties will spend the day rehearsing under the direction of WCC’s music faculty. The festival will culminate in a mass choir concert featuring the visiting students alongside the WCC choir.
The final performance is scheduled for 4 p.m. in Moffatt Auditorium, located inside the Wayne Learning Center — the college’s main building with flag poles in front. The concert is free and open to the public.
Participants will perform four choral selections spanning a wide range of musical styles, from Renaissance works to Broadway favorites. In addition to the combined choir performance, two middle school choirs will present special selections during the festival. Middle school choir directors will also join the WCC choir on stage for a collaborative piece.
College officials say the annual event provides young singers with an opportunity to refine their skills, experience collegiate-level music instruction, and connect with fellow students who share a passion for choral music.
