Wayne County, N.C. — Due to continued icy conditions impacting many secondary roadways and school campuses throughout the county, Wayne County Public Schools will remain closed for students and staff on Wednesday, February 4.
District officials made the announcement Tuesday evening, citing concerns about lingering ice that has made travel hazardous in several areas. Maintenance crews have been working to improve road and campus conditions, but temperatures are expected to remain too low for full thawing overnight.
All school activities and events originally scheduled for Wednesday are canceled. Updates regarding Thursday’s schedule will be shared once road and weather conditions have been reassessed.
