GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Icy conditions across Goldsboro and Wayne County have led to multiple government office closures and schedule adjustments for Monday, January 26, 2026, as a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 1 p.m.
Officials say all City of Goldsboro offices will be closed Monday. As a result, Monday’s solid waste routes will be collected on Wednesday, January 28. In addition, all Wayne County Government offices will also be closed for the day.
The Town of Fremont announced it will operate on a two-hour delay, opening at 10 a.m. Monday.
The National Weather Service reports freezing rain with additional light ice accumulations possible through the morning. Very slippery roads, bridges, and sidewalks remain a concern, and motorists are urged to slow down and use caution while traveling.
As of 6 p.m., Duke Energy and Tri-County Electric report no power outages in Wayne County.
Officials continue to monitor conditions and remind residents to limit travel if possible until temperatures rise and conditions improve later in the day.
