January 15, 2026, 66, Goldsboro – Daryl Keith Lassiter, 66, of the Rosewood Community in Goldsboro, NC passed away January 15, 2026 surrounded by those he loved the most. Born on September 26, 1959 in Northampton County, NC, he was the devoted husband to Metrina (Lynn) Lassiter and a loving father to Kim and Renee.
As a younger fella, Daryl played football in high school. He had a love for trucks and owned a navy blue ’56 Ford we used to ride around in. He loved deer hunting and being out in the woods in the quiet of nature. Daryl was hard-working and dedicated. He spent over 30 years as a skilled heavy equipment operator, where he was known as the best of the best. He could turn any wreck of dirt into a perfectly sloped work of art anyone in the business would be amazed by. Although, he spent the majority of his life in construction, his favorite work growing up was farming. It was always amazing he could look at a sprout in any field and knew exactly what was growing. Daryl was also a skilled stone mason. He researched and taught himself how to erect a fireplace in an already existing home and beautifully patterned sheets of stone as an exterior covering. After many builds, he decided to patent the design so that other families could enjoy the same coziness in their own homes. Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time for his family and his passions.
Our fathers hobbies and interests helped define who he was. He loved music and enjoyed playing the guitar. He loved having family and friends over for karaoke. He was a huge fan of martial arts and loved talking to everyone about his favorite style, Wing Chun. He loved to learn and had a huge passion for all things natural and used for healing. He loved his network of people and he loved sharing the knowledge he learned in hopes it could help others in their pursuit for good health. He loved to talk about us girls and stories from our younger years. He was always so proud he played a role in raising two accomplished women.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Metrina (Lynn) Lassiter, his children; Kimberly Sellers (Matthew) Renee Allen (Joe) of Goldsboro, Grandchildren; Chase, Skyler, Christa, Averi, Lauren, Landen, Mylie, and Cameron as well as 8 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a special niece, Michelle Yajure and his extended Filipino family.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father Troy and Betty Jean Lassiter, brother, Troy Jr., his mother in law Isabel Gutgutao Baldonando and his very best friend, Fred Martin of Milwaukee, NC.
The family extends an invitation to a viewing on Sunday, January 18 from 6-8pm at Evergreen Funeral Home, 3888 US Hwy 70 West. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 19 at 10am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Goldsboro. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Please no video or pictures taken during services.
We find comfort in knowing our father loved the Lord. He knew Christ and was prepared to make that leap to the other side of the veil. We were all lucky to have him in our lives. We know he is now walking around sharing his testimony with every listening ear.
