GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Visitors to downtown Goldsboro can expect temporary sidewalk and pedestrian access restrictions along North Center Street beginning Sunday evening, November 1, as construction continues on the new Palmetto & Pine Event Center.
The City of Goldsboro has announced that portions of the 100 block of North Center Street will be cordoned off with around-the-clock construction fencing through Wednesday, November 4.
The temporary restrictions are necessary as construction crews connect the sprinkler system at the new Palmetto & Pine Event Center, located at 123 N. Center Street, to the City’s water line.
Areas Affected by Construction
Beginning Sunday evening, November 1, and continuing through Wednesday, November 4, the following areas will be temporarily closed:
-
The alleyway leading to the Visit Goldsboro Visitor Center and Travel & Tourism offices.
-
The sidewalk and crosswalk directly in front of the building.
-
The parking space directly in front of the building.
Construction fencing will remain in place 24 hours a day throughout the project.
Downtown Businesses to Remain Open
Despite the temporary restrictions, the City of Goldsboro says businesses along the 100 block of North Center Street are expected to remain open during their regular business hours.
Businesses should remain accessible outside the designated construction zone, allowing customers and visitors to continue supporting downtown merchants.
