October 26, 2026, 63, Goldsboro – James Hackney McCallister of Goldsboro, NC, lovingly known as “Jimmy,” passed away peacefully on October 26, 2026 at the age of 63.
A man who was never afraid to speak his mind, Jimmy was known for being wonderfully opinionated—but always in the best way possible. Beneath his strong convictions was a profoundly good-hearted, loving soul. Above all else, he was a deeply devoted and loving dad who put his family first.
Jimmy spent his career serving his community, ultimately retiring as the Manager of Mixed Beverage at the Wayne County ABC Store. Outside of work, he lived life to the fullest through his many passions. He loved riding his motorcycle and found peace and joy traveling through the North Carolina mountains, just as much as he enjoyed casting a line and fishing at the coast. He was an avid, die-hard North Carolina Tar Heels fan, an enthusiastic hunter, and a dedicated member of the Patriot Guard Riders (PGR), where he stood in honor of his fellow patriots.
Jimmy is survived by his loving and devoted son, Justin McCallister of Goldsboro; his three sisters, Dee Shearin of Fuquay-Varina, Joan Grimes of Elm City and Wanda Bryant (John) of Pontiac, MI; and his lifelong friend of 48 years whom he considered a brother, Clifford “Burr” Harwood III, along with Cliff’s wife, Karyn of Wilson, who was also a dear friend of over 26 years. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family and many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Wilma Jean (Chase) Crisp of Eureka, and his brother, Clayton Tennyson Crisp of Wilson.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 30, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro, NC.
The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
