October 13, 2026, 73, – Kathleen (Kathy) went to her final rest to be reunited with her parents, brothers and sisters on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.
Kathy was an avid reader, baker, quilter and homemaker. She leaves behind her loving husband, Michael Shafer who has been her partner and caregiver throughout 54 years of marriage. She will also be well remembered by her children, Etta Wheeler (Brian) of Haughton, Louisiana, Robert Shafer and Michael “Shafer” Jr (Jennifer) of Goldsboro North Carolina. Her legacy is her grandchildren Moriah Provost (Aaron), Michael C Shafer (Hannah) and Ethan Shafer. She was a proud great-grandmother to Declan Provost.
The family will have a private visitation with a Life Celebration at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
