September 29, 2026, 85, Mount Olive – Annie Ruth Grantham, age 85, of Mount Olive passed away on Sept 29, 2026 while being cared for at Parkwood Village in Wilson. She was the daughter of the Late James Marion Denning and Cassie Elizabeth Sutton Denning. Annie was a member of Bear Marsh Baptist Church.
Annie graduated from Mount Olive High School in 1959 where she earned the superlative of “Best Dancer.” She spent most of her working career in the banking industry where was a long-time employee and Assistant Vice President of Southern Bank in Mount Olive.
A service to celebrate and honor the life of Annie Grantham will be held by the Graveside on Sunday, October 4, at two o’clock in the afternoon in Maplewood Cemetery. Rev. Paul Rose will officiate followed by a time of visitation.
Annie is survived by her only daughter, Mendy Owenby (Scott) and two granddaughters that were the light of her life, Lark and Emery, of Raleigh; nephews, Stephen Lee Denning (Kayla) and Robert Denning (Misty) of Mount Olive; sister-in-Law, Ester Denning, niece Karen Donatelli (Frank), great- nephew Nicholas Donatelli, and nephew Kevin Denning of New York.
In addition to her parents, Annie was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Jackson Grantham, brothers Joe Denning, G. Lonnie Denning, Frank Denning, Bobby Denning, and Steve Denning, along with sisters Evelyn Denning and Betty Denning.
