GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Fall was in the air Friday night as cooler temperatures greeted Wayne County high school football teams for Week Five action, with local squads spending the evening on the road.
Eastern Wayne continued its strong start to the season with another dominant performance, shutting out North Lenoir 46-0. The Warriors controlled the Three Rivers 4A Conference matchup and remained unbeaten.
Princeton also put together a commanding performance, rolling past Wake Prep Academy 64-0, while Wayne Christian posted another big shutout with a 48-0 victory over American Leadership Academy-Johnston.
Other Wayne County teams faced a tougher night away from home.
Goldsboro was shut out by Wallace-Rose Hill 65-0, while Southern Wayne fell to Hunt 40-6. C.B. Aycock was held scoreless in a 21-0 loss to Southern Nash.
Rosewood also suffered a road loss, falling to James Kenan 58-13.
With Week Five in the books, Wayne County teams now turn their attention to another week of preparation as the high school football season moves deeper into conference play.
