September 22, 2026, 68, – Angela Woodard Hare, 68, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at her home with her family by her side. Born in Johnston County, on October 4, 1957, she was the daughter of Melvin Rufus Woodard and the late Lenora Mozingo Woodard.
Angie was raised in the church at Rains Crossroads Church in Kenly NC. She played piano and sang in the choir at the church. Granny Mama Mozelle made sure Angie was in church every Sunday. It has been said that Angie was truly a remarkable individual, embodying the essence of selflessness and kindness. Her genuine nature and unwavering commitment to serving others reflected the purpose of our existence as she dedicated herself to helping those around her. She had a way of making people feel special every time she saw them.
Angie and Emmitt met in 1976. It was love at first sight. Emmitt’s sister got mad at Emmitt for taking her friend away. Emmitt and Angie were inseparable for 50 years.
On October 5th 1987, Angie and Emmitt had a daughter, Mary.
Angie always spent a lot of time with her daughter, Mary, making sure things were done the proper way. When Mary went to Mount Olive College, Angie would call the admissions director Tim Woodard every day. On about the 100th call Angie asked Tim if he had a minute and he said NO!
When Emmitt would take his friends on golf tournaments to Topsail Beach, Angie always made sure that she had the cabinets and the refrigerator well stocked. She was not going to let anyone go hungry. One of the golfers said “a farmer knocked at the door and that his tractor broke down. He asked Angie if she a flywheel for a 1947 John Deere tractor. Angie said she did.”
Angie was very generous. She always wanted to give to others. She loved to help her daughter make candy bags for every holiday to pass out to others. Angela and Mary (Referred to as the doughnut girls) would always take doughnuts to friends around town. She even started getting into Emmitt’s bourbon and cigar stash and passing them out until Emmitt put a stop to it.
Angie loved her dogs (Snickers & Isabella). She stayed home with them daily while Emmitt and Mary were at work. When Mary got home from work, Angie loved to take the dogs for a ride everyday around walnut creek and then back around the neighbors, so the dogs could see the chickens.
Angela loved her trips with Mary to Topsail beach. She loved to go to Wilmington to shop and favorite place to eat at the beach was Riverview Cafe.
Angie loved to decorate for all holidays and seasons. Every Christmas she wanted the tallest Christmas tree on the lot. She would spend hours outside every holiday decorating the yard. She found great joy in her beautiful new home and the surrounding nature that was present.
Angie loved visiting her dad and spending time reminiscing about cherished family memories.
In addition to her adoring daughter Mary, and loving husband Emmitt, Angela was always very special to her 3 brothers. Being an only daughter, (and an only sister) she was like a mother to her brothers, nieces, nephews, and so many of her other friends. She had a heart of gold, and her love and her laughter will live on in our hearts and memories.
Along with her mother, she was preceded in death by her brother, Johnny Vine Woodard.
Along with her father, Angie is survived by her husband, Emmitt Harold Hare, her daughter, Mary Hare, her brothers, Rudy Woodard of Juniper, FL, Ernie Woodard (Sonya) of Princeton, her nieces Sarah Pearce (Matt), Jenna Alexander (Zack), her nephews, Zachary Woodard, Tanner Woodard and his friend Alarie.
A graveside service in honor of Angela will be held Saturday, at 10:00 AM at Hare Family Cemetery, 957 Piney Grove Church Road, LaGrange, NC, 28551
Arrangements have been entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
