LUCAMA, N.C. — Registration is officially open for the Tour-Type Modifieds as Southern National Motorsports Park prepares to host the 24th Annual North-South Shootout on November 6–7, 2026.
The two-day event will mark the first time the North-South Shootout has been held at the high-banked North Carolina oval, bringing one of short track racing’s longstanding traditions to Lucama.
The Tour-Type Modifieds will headline the weekend with a 125-lap feature race on Saturday, Nov. 7, featuring a 32-car starting field.

Tour-Type Modified Race Procedures Announced
Race officials have outlined several procedures for the 125-lap main event, including double-file “cone” restarts, free-pass car procedures and controlled cautions.
Teams will be permitted to use two new tires during the race, with only one new tire allowed to be changed during any caution period. Fuel and tires may not be taken during the same caution.
The North-South Shootout will be a six-tire event, with four tires designated for qualifying and two additional tires available for changes during the race.
Competitors will be required to use Hoosier Racing Tires, with M20 compound tires on the left side and M30 compound tires on the right side. All tires must be purchased at the track during the event weekend.
Sunoco Racing Fuel will also be available for purchase at Southern National Motorsports Park. Tour-Type Modified teams will be required to purchase a minimum of 20 gallons of fuel from the track.
Entry fees must accompany each registration. A $50 late fee will apply to entries received after Nov. 3, 2026.
Seven Racing Divisions Highlight Saturday’s Action
In addition to the Tour-Type Modifieds, Saturday’s racing program will feature Legends, Vintage Modifieds, 602 Modifieds, Chargers and Any Cars.
Registration and rules are also available online for the 602 Modifieds.
Southern National Motorsports Park’s weekly divisions, including Legends, Chargers and Any Cars, will compete under their standard weekly rules. Registration will be available for those divisions.
Registration information and rules for the Vintage Modifieds will be announced separately.
Saturday’s Racing Schedule
The Nov. 7 racing program will begin with rotating practice sessions for all divisions at 10 a.m.
Grandstands will open at 1:15 p.m., followed by single-car qualifying for all Modified divisions and Chargers beginning at 1:30 p.m.
Fans will have an opportunity to meet the competitors during a driver autograph session scheduled from 3:15 to 4 p.m.
Feature racing will begin at 4:30 p.m., with the evening culminating in the 125-lap Tour-Type Modified main event.

Tickets for the 24th Annual North-South Shootout are scheduled to go on sale Thursday, Sept. 24.
