GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Governor Josh Stein has appointed Wayne County resident Mary Bartlett to serve as an at-large member of the North Carolina State Library Commission, recognizing her longstanding commitment to supporting libraries and library foundations across the state.
Bartlett has been an advocate for libraries and library foundations for the past 20 years, working to strengthen library services and promote their importance in communities throughout North Carolina.
She most recently served as chairwoman of the State Library Commission, where she led two strategic planning cycles to help guide the commission’s priorities and future initiatives.
In 2025, Bartlett was recognized for her dedication to libraries when she received the Advocate of the Year Award from the North Carolina Library Directors Association.
Her appointment continues her service to North Carolina’s library community and her efforts to support libraries as valuable educational and community resources.
