WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. — A Goldsboro man is facing more than 30 charges following an investigation into the theft of parts from multiple vehicles at a repair business in eastern Wayne County.
According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation began June 21, 2026, when the owner of a vehicle repair business reported that parts had been stolen from multiple vehicles.
Investigators identified 38-year-old Matthew Alan Williams of Goldsboro as a suspect in the case. The Sheriff’s Office said the investigation determined that items allegedly stolen during the incident were later sold for scrap by Williams at a local business.
Following further investigation, authorities obtained warrants charging Williams with 15 counts of felony breaking and entering a motor vehicle, 15 counts of misdemeanor larceny, one count of felony obtaining property by false pretenses and one count of misdemeanor possession of stolen goods.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Squad located Williams on Sept. 9 and served him with the warrants.
Williams was placed in the Wayne County Detention Center under an $80,000 secured bond.
The charges are allegations, and Williams is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
