GOLDSBORO, N.C. — A 56-year-old Goldsboro man was hospitalized Tuesday morning after being shot in the leg, according to the Goldsboro Police Department.
On Sept. 1 at approximately 7:21 a.m., officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area of 508 E. Chestnut St.
When officers arrived, they found Lawrence Atkinson, 56, suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.
Wayne County EMS transported Atkinson to UNC Health Wayne. He was later transferred to ECU Health Medical Center for further treatment.
The Goldsboro Police Department’s Investigative Services Bureau responded to the scene and initiated a criminal investigation.
The investigation remains ongoing. No information about a possible suspect or what led to the shooting has been released.
