August 26, 2026, 71., Mount Olive – Holly Smith Parrish, age 71, of Mount Olive, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
Holly was born in Nassau County, Florida, to the late Jasper Washington Smith and Myrtle Elizabeth Wilson. For many years, she worked as a self-employed beautician, where her work allowed her not only to serve others but also to build many friendships along the way.
Holly shared 48 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Teddy Eugene Parrish, who preceded her in death. Their many years together were filled with the joys and experiences of building a life and raising a family.
Holly was a member of Brogden Community Church. Family held a special place in her heart, and some of her greatest joys came from simply being surrounded by those she loved. She treasured family gatherings and the time spent making memories with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, and extended family.
Holly also knew how to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. She especially loved spending time at the beach, where she could relax and enjoy the coast. She also enjoyed thrift store shopping and the fun of looking through the stores to see what special treasure she might find. Whether she was enjoying a day at the beach, searching for a bargain, or simply gathering with family, Holly found happiness in the moments and people that made life special.
A graveside service to celebrate Holly’s life will be held Friday, August 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Emmaus Baptist Church Cemetery, with Christopher Daly officiating. The family will receive friends briefly following the service at the cemetery. At other times, the family will be at the home of Chris and Holly Daly 858 Baker Chapel Church Road in Mount Olive.
Holly is survived by her daughters, Bridgett Parrish Kornegay; Janisue Elizabeth Taylor and husband, Jonathon; and Holly Parrish Daly and husband, Chris.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christopher Daly and wife, Macayla, Carson Daly and fiancée, Lauren, Culyer Daly, Riley Williford and husband, Spencer, Laylah Grady, Seth Kornegay, Logan Taylor, Emilee Taylor, Jaxson Taylor, Gabbi Miller, and Jaydon Hood; and her great-grandchild, Camryn Daly.
Also surviving are her brothers, David Wilson and wife, Claudia, Joe Smith and wife, Gigi, and Terry Smith and wife, Heather; her sister, Jane Keen and husband, Danny; along with many extended family members, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and special friends who were near and dear to her heart.
In addition to her parents and husband, Holly was preceded in death by a daughter Katherine Leeanne Miller, her siblings, Mark Wilson, J. L. Smith, Kathy Eubanks, Angel Miller, and Lee Wilson, stepfather, Lester L. (Buster) Wilson.
Holly’s life was centered around the people she loved. The family gatherings, trips to the beach, shopping adventures, conversations, laughter, and ordinary moments shared together became some of life’s greatest treasures. While her family will deeply feel her absence, they will carry with them the love she gave so freely, and the many precious memories made throughout her life.
Flowers are welcome, or memorial contributions may be directed to the Brogden Community Church food giveaway, in care of Ms. Frankye Watson, 2918 Highway 117 South, Dudley, NC 28333.
