August 13, 2026, 62, Goldsboro – Donald Keith Jones, age 62, of Goldsboro, North Carolina, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center, with his loving family by his side.
Born in Wayne County, Keith was the son of the late Donald Coleman Jones and Hilda Brown Jones. He graduated from Goldsboro High School and also attended classes at Wayne Community College. Keith was a hardworking and dedicated man who spent more than three decades with Dillon Supply Company. He was a volunteer firefighter for many years with Elroy Volunteer Fire Department, where he rose through the ranks during his years of service. During that time, Keith attended numerous fire service schools and training programs and earned multiple certifications, reflecting his commitment to protecting and serving his community.
Keith enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going to the gun range. He loved going to his cabin in the mountains, hiking, and taking in the mountain views along the Blue Ridge Parkway, where he especially enjoyed watching the July 4th fireworks. He also took great pleasure in feeding the deer that visited his cabin. He was a longtime member of the Wayne County Wildlife Club. Keith treasured the time spent with family and friends and the many memories he created along the way.
Keith is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Diane Sams Jones; sons, Bobby Colie, Robert Colie and wife Delilah; grandsons, Tyler and Aydan Colie; sisters, Diane Hagar and Lisa Tyree and husband Curtis; brothers-in-law, James Sams and wife Christel, Roger Sams and wife Leslie; sisters-in-law, Wanda Westbrook and husband Donald Ray, Vickie Holland and husband Dennis; several nieces and nephews; his beagle, Scout; lifelong friend, Jimmy Pittman, who was a brother to him; and special friends, Ken Edwards and Ben Sauls. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his family, friends, coworkers, and all who loved him.
A gathering to celebrate Keith’s life will be held Monday August 17, 2026, from 6 pm to 8 pm at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and Crematory in Dudley.
Rest peacefully, Keith. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
