WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. — Firefighters from multiple Wayne County departments responded to a structure fire early Saturday morning in the 100 block of Potts Road, just off Outlaw Road.
The fire was reported around 6 a.m., sending firefighters from the Dudley, Arrington and Mar-Mac fire departments to the scene. A large cloud of smoke could be seen rising above the treetops as emergency crews approached the area.
Fortunately, no one was inside the brick home when the fire reached its peak. Officials said the house had reportedly been unoccupied for some time.
Several structures located behind the home were also involved in the fire. Several small covered areas were affected, and a camper-style RV sustained damage.
Multiple EMS units responded to assist with the emergency operation. Wayne County Office of Emergency Services personnel and deputies with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.
No injuries were immediately reported.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage were not immediately available.
