July 11, 2026, 67, Mount Olive – Mr. Michael Payne (Jesse Pearsall), 67, transitioned at his home.
Born in Wayne Co., he is the son of Jessie Whitfield and Mattie Hobbs Whitfield. After graduating from Southern Wayne High, he joined the United States Marine Corps.
He is survived by his children; mother, Mattie Pearl Whitfield; sister, Lena Whitfield; aunt, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
There will be a signing of register book that will be presented to family on Thursday, July 21, 2026, from 4pm to 6pm.
