July 15, 2026, 86, Mount Olive – Jean Jackson Letchworth, long-time resident of Mount Olive, went to be with the Lord early Wednesday morning, July 15, 2026. Mrs. Letchworth, 86, was at ECU Medical Center in Greenville.
She had been employed in the cafeteria at Mount Olive Junior High (now Middle) School. She had been a faithful member of Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church where she sang in the choir, was active in the Women’s Ministries, assisted with Bible school and many other church projects.
Visitation with her family will be Monday, July 20, at Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church, beginning at 1:00 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 2:00 p.m. Officiating will be Pastor Jeffrey Dail. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive. Flowers are welcome, or memorial gifts may be made to Women’s Ministries, c/o Mount Olive Church, 130 Ed Edmundson Road, Mount Olive, NC 28365. The family is also receiving friends and relatives at the home of Anne S. Letchworth.
Mrs. Letchworth leaves behind her beloved daughter-in-law, Anne Swinson Letchworth; her grandsons, Bryan Letchworth and Matthew Letchworth, all of Mount Olive; two great-granddaughters, Makayla Letchworth and fiancé, Jacob Blake, of Pine Level, and Makensey Letchworth and significant other, Daniel Reaves, of Mount Olive; a great-great-grandson, David Jase; her sister, Shirley Edwards of Grantham; her brother, George “Ricky” Jackson and wife, Sheila, of Warsaw; several nieces and nephews; and several dear friends, as well as her church family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bentley Letchworth; her son, David Bentley Letchworth; two infant sons; her parents, Nathan Jackson and Margaret Vernon Jackson Harper.
After a life of serving God and being a good steward to her family and fellowman, Mrs. Letchworth has made it “home” to reunite with her loved ones gone on before her, and whom she missed so much. May she forever be in the embrace of her Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus, who made her eternal home in heaven possible.
