June 25, 2026, 66, Nahunta – Terry Lynn Sullivan, 66, of Nahunta, North Carolina, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on June 25, 2026.
Born and raised in Nahunta, Terry spent his entire life in the community he loved. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Brooks Sullivan and Velma Rose Sullivan.
Terry was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his son, Bobby Sullivan and his wife, Rhonda; his daughter, Melissa Jones and her husband, Taylor; and his two beloved grandsons, Arthur and Andrew. Being “Poppa” was one of the greatest joys of his life, and there was nothing he loved more than spending time with his grandsons. He is also survived by his brother, Sonny Sullivan and his wife, Debbie; his sister, Teresa Winders; as well as several beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends who will miss him deeply.
A dedicated and hardworking man, Terry spent much of his career working in manufacturing. He worked at Busman, now Eaton, and spent many years at GE in Goldsboro before finishing his career as an Edge Contour Operator at GE Aviation in Wilmington until he retired several years ago.
Terry had a passion for the outdoors and rarely sat still. He loved riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and embraced adventure, making several solo cross-country motorcycle trips to experience the country’s history and scenic beauty. The open road was one of Terry’s favorite places, and some of his happiest memories were made exploring the country from the seat of his Harley. Whether he was fishing or boating along the coast, out hunting in the woods, or tending his garden, he was happiest outdoors.
He had a natural talent for figuring out how things worked and seemed able to repair or rebuild almost anything he put his hands on. He especially enjoyed restoring and bringing new life to his father’s old tractor, a project that meant a great deal to him, and he spent countless hours tinkering in his workshop. He enjoyed working in the yard, whether he was mowing the lawn, weed-eating, or helping others keep their grass mowed he welcomed any excuse to ride on his lawn mower. And if someone needed help, Terry would set aside whatever he was doing and be there without hesitation. He was known for his generosity, his larger-than-life personality, and his love of having a good time. He never missed an opportunity to laugh, make memories, or enjoy life with the people around him.
Terry also proudly served his community as a volunteer firefighter with the Nahunta Volunteer Fire Department for many years, a role that reflected his dedication to helping those around him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Elks Lodge in Goldsboro, North Carolina. All who knew and loved Terry are welcome to attend. One of Terry’s biggest wishes was that, when his time came, the people he loved would come together, share stories, laugh, and celebrate his life. His family invites everyone to do just that.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Nahunta Volunteer Fire Department in honor of Terry’s many years of dedicated service. Donations may be mailed to Nahunta Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 5, Pikeville, NC 27863.
Terry’s legacy is one of hard work, generosity, service, and unconditional love for his family. He lived life on his own terms, worked hard, played hard, and never hesitated to help someone in need. Though he is no longer with us, the stories he told, the laughter he shared, and the example he set will live on in the hearts of his family and friends for generations to come.
Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home & Crematory are honored to be serving the Sullivan family.
