July 3, 2026, 88, Goldsboro – Norma Jean Rouse Sullivan passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Friday, July 3, 2026, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, North Carolina.
Born in Duplin County, she was the daughter of the late Lattie Leon Rouse and Bessie Mae Langston Rouse. Determined to further her education, Norma earned her GED before returning to college, where she became a dental assistant. She devoted many years of service working alongside Dr. Bullard in Mount Olive. Above all, she cherished her role as a loving wife, devoted mother, and faithful homemaker.
A woman of deep faith, Norma was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Goldsboro. She was known for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for her family. She found her greatest joy in caring for those she loved and creating a home filled with warmth, compassion, and lasting memories.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arba Collon Sullivan, Sr.; her son, Arba Collon Sullivan, Jr.; and her brother, Royce Leon Rouse.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Sharon Myers and Lisa Smith; her special daughter, Judy Hales; daughter in law, Amy Briggs Sullivan: her brother, Brian Rouse and wife, Diane; her sister, Linda Carolyn Rouse Joyner; her grandchildren, Mark King, Kandise Overman, Suzanne Daniel and Breyl, also Arba Collon Sullivan III; her great-grandchildren, Layla Overman, Mason Overman and Esmae Synger; special nephew, Duane Joyner; her special adopted brother, O’jay Langley She is also lovingly remembered by special family friends, Mark and Judy King, as well as a host of extended family members and dear friends.
Norma’s quiet strength, gentle nature, and unconditional love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her legacy is one of faith, devotion to family, and a life lived with grace and compassion.
The family will hold a celebration of Norma’s life at a later date, details will be announced once finalized.
