WAYNE COUNTY, NC – A Goldsboro woman is facing a felony drug charge following a traffic stop conducted during a proactive law enforcement operation over the Independence Day holiday.
According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, members of the Violence Prevention & Response Team (ViPR) and Patrol Division (D-Shift) were conducting a saturation patrol on July 4 in the West Grantham Street and U.S. Highway 70 area when deputies stopped a vehicle for a North Carolina Chapter 20 traffic violation.
During the investigation, deputies developed probable cause to search the vehicle. Authorities say the driver, Salena Latifah Mayo, 36, of Harris Street in Goldsboro, was found to be in possession of illegal narcotics.
Mayo was arrested and transported to the Wayne County Magistrate’s Office, where she was charged with Felony Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance.
She was issued a $5,000 unsecured bond.
