GOLDSBORO, NC — Community members can help local students prepare for the upcoming school year by donating school supplies at any State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU) branch during the 2026 Governor’s School Supply Drive.
SECU announced it is once again serving as a collection partner for the statewide initiative, with all 275 branch locations across North Carolina accepting donations through July 31.
For Wayne County residents, donations can be dropped off at SECU’s three Goldsboro branch locations:
- Wayne Memorial Drive
- Cashwell Drive
- West Ash Street
One of the unique aspects of the annual drive is that all donations remain in the county where they are collected. Supplies donated at the Goldsboro branches will be distributed to public schools in Wayne County ahead of the new school year, helping local teachers and students begin classes with essential classroom materials.
Last year, SECU members and community supporters donated more than 19,000 school supply items at branches statewide, helping save North Carolina teachers and families an estimated $59,000 in classroom expenses.
SECU has partnered with the Governor’s School Supply Drive for the past eight years, providing convenient collection sites in each of North Carolina’s 100 counties.
“As a not-for-profit, member-owned cooperative whose core membership includes North Carolina’s public school employees and their families, SECU’s support for the state’s teachers and students is a natural extension of our commitment to the people and communities we serve,” said SECU President and CEO Leigh Brady. “Our branch presence in all 100 counties makes us uniquely positioned to serve as collection sites for this important initiative and help connect local donations with local classrooms. We welcome everyone—not just members—to stop by any of our branches to drop off their donated items.”
Organizers encourage donors to contribute new school supplies, with the greatest need including:
- Paper of all types
- Pencils and pens
- Markers and crayons
- Dry-erase markers
- Spiral notebooks
- Sanitizing wipes
- Tissues
The annual school supply drive helps ensure students have the tools they need to succeed while easing the financial burden on teachers, many of whom purchase classroom supplies with their own money.
Residents wishing to participate can visit any SECU branch before July 31 to make a donation and help support students and educators right here in Wayne County.
