MOUNT OLIVE, NC — The Mount Olive Mayor and Board of Commissioners will hold a special called meeting on Monday, June 29, to consider adoption of the town’s proposed Fiscal Year 2026-2027 budget.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the board meeting room at 114 E. James Street in Mount Olive.
According to the public notice, commissioners are expected to consider adoption of the proposed fiscal year 2026-2027 budget, the Town Manager’s budget message, and the budget ordinance.
Following discussion of the budget, the board is also scheduled to enter a closed session pursuant to N.C. General Statute 143-318.11(a)(6).
The closed session will allow commissioners to consider matters involving the qualifications, competence, performance, character, fitness, conditions of appointment, or conditions of employment of an individual public officer, employee, or prospective employee, or to hear or investigate a complaint, charge, or grievance involving an individual public officer or employee.
Under North Carolina law, general personnel policy issues may not be discussed during a closed session. Any final action involving the appointment, discharge, or removal of an employee must be taken in open session.
The meeting is open to the public except for the portion conducted in closed session as permitted by state law.
