June 9, 2026, 84, Mount Olive – Martha Glenn Bailey, 84, passed away peacefully on June 9th, 2026, at her daughter’s home in Willow Springs, NC, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Born July 2, 1941, in Gastonia, NC, to Mary Jean Smith Glenn and Henry Franklin Glenn Jr., Martha grew up in Gastonia alongside her sister, Betty Jean Glenn Teer. She attended Ashley High School, graduating with the Class of 1959, then continued her education at Peace College (Class of 1961) and East Carolina University, where she earned a B.S. in Business Administration in 1963.
A longtime resident of Cary, NC, Martha spent much of her career as the office manager for Carpet Care of the Carolinas. After retiring, she found great joy in dancing with the Cary Liners, a group organized through the Cary Senior Center. She was also a devoted member of White Plains United Methodist Church for more than 50 years, cherishing the fellowship she found in worship and in the Searchers Sunday School class.
Martha — “Marty” to those who loved her — had a deep passion for her family, her friends, her church community, dancing, Wolfpack basketball, the beach, and traveling with her husband, Larry. Her warmth, humor, and kindness touched everyone who knew her, and she will be dearly missed.
Marty is survived by her husband of 58 years, Larry Glenn Bailey; her daughter Kimberly Fish and husband Ron Fish of Willow Springs, NC; and her son Stephen Bailey and wife PJ Bailey of Holly Springs, NC. She was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother to Aubrie Lewis and husband Wesley Lewis of Clayton, NC, and their children Bailey, Jonah, Finley, and Wells; Landon Hueter of Cary, NC; and Philip and William Bailey, both students at NC State University. She also lovingly welcomed two step-granddaughters, Jessica Free and Taylor Avolis, and their families.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 12 o’clock noon at Tyndall Funeral Home. The family will receive friends beginning at 11 o’clock until service time. Pastor Andy Beard will officiate the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Searchers Class at White Plains United Methodist Church, 313 SE Maynard Road, Cary, NC 27511 (www.wpumc.com), or to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
