June 11, 2026, 61, LaGrange – Donald Gregory Frederick, 61, passed away suddenly at home, leaving behind a profound emptiness in the lives of all who knew and loved him. Born in Wayne County, Greg was the son of Donald Wayne Frederick and Suzanne LaRoque Frederick. He attended Eastern Wayne High School, where he was the quarterback of the football team and the catcher for the baseball team. After high school, he attended Atlantic Christian College on a baseball scholarship and later transferred to East Carolina University, where he majored in Political Science.
Possessing a kind heart and gentle spirit, Greg loved the simple pleasures of life. Finding the most pride and enjoyment in spending time with his daughter, Lindsey Frederick. He loved coaching Lindsey in all her sports growing up, and he was known to never miss any of her games throughout high school and college. His love for animals was evident to all who knew him—he could never bear to see a hungry animal and always showed them kindness, especially his cats. Greg enjoyed playing golf with his friends and even fed the fox squirrels on the course. Greg was an avid sports fan of the Miami Dolphins, Philadelphia Phillies, and Carolina Hurricanes. Greg loved listening to Rock & Roll music, especially bands like the Doors and the Cars.
Above all, Greg loved his family. Along with his parents, Greg is survived by his daughter Lindsey Frederick, and her mother, Priscilla Frederick, his siblings, Sherry Hodges and husband Brad, Steven Frederick and wife Stephanie, Beth Lane, and Kristie Marquard, and his very special feline, Sheenks.
The family will honor Greg’s wishes not to hold a formal service. They ask those who knew him to honor Greg’s memory by listening to some music, telling a silly joke, playing a round of golf, or spending time with friends and family.
