MOUNT OLIVE — Emergency crews responded Saturday afternoon after a vehicle crashed into a home at the intersection of Northeast Center Street and East College Street in Mount Olive.
According to officials, firefighters with the Mount Olive Fire Department, personnel from Wayne County EMS Station 9, and officers with the Mount Olive Police Department were dispatched to the scene of an accident involving a passenger vehicle and a residence.
Authorities said no one inside the vehicle was injured, though the occupant was evaluated on scene by EMS personnel as a precaution.
The homeowner was not at the residence when the crash occurred, and no injuries were reported inside the home.
The vehicle struck a brick residence, causing damage to the structure. Myers Wrecker Service was called to remove the vehicle from the home. Before the vehicle could be safely extracted, utility crews arrived on scene to disconnect power to the residence.
Once electricity to the home was shut off, the vehicle was safely removed from the structure.
The cause of the crash has not been released, and the Mount Olive Police Department is continuing its investigation into the incident.
