GOLDSBORO, N.C. — DaVita Kidney Care recently honored Pat Patton of DaVita Rosewood Dialysis in Goldsboro with the prestigious DAISY Award, recognizing her outstanding commitment to patient care and nursing excellence.
Patton was nominated for the award by colleagues and patients who praised her unwavering compassion, empathy and dedication to improving the lives of those she serves.
According to her nomination, Patton “has the compassion and empathy of a saint” and consistently strives to provide the highest quality care throughout every aspect of her workday. She was also recognized for her commitment to supporting her team and continuously seeking ways to improve patient outcomes.
The DAISY Award is an international recognition program that celebrates nurses and nursing professionals who go above and beyond in providing compassionate care. Established in 1999 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, the DAISY Foundation was created to honor the exceptional nursing care Barnes received during an eight-week hospitalization before his death from complications of an autoimmune disease.
The foundation’s name, DAISY, stands for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. Today, hospitals, clinics, dialysis centers and nursing schools around the world participate in the program, recognizing individuals, teams and educators who exemplify extraordinary nursing care.
At DaVita Rosewood Dialysis, Patton’s colleagues say her dedication extends beyond clinical responsibilities. Her focus on patient-centered care and her desire to help both patients and staff succeed have made a lasting impact on the facility and the community it serves.
The award highlights the important role nurses play in healthcare and celebrates those who make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients every day.
