A friendly, playful kitten named Pluto is searching for his forever home as this week’s WGBR Pet of the Week powered by Jackson & Sons.
Pluto, a seven-month-old gray and black cat, is currently available for adoption at the Wayne County Animal Shelter. Shelter staff describe him as full of personality and highly interactive.
“He’s very responsible when he’s out, and he’s almost like a slinky in your hand,” shelter staff said while showcasing Pluto’s affectionate nature. “He’s got a wonderful personality.”
Pluto arrived at the shelter on May 21 and has quickly become a favorite among staff and visitors. Given his friendly demeanor and playful spirit, shelter officials don’t expect him to remain available for long.
“We haven’t had him very long, so he won’t last long,” staff said. “He is awesome.”
The shelter continues to see successful adoptions and encourages families to stop by and meet the many cats and dogs currently available. No appointment is necessary to visit the shelter.
The Wayne County Animal Shelter is open Monday through Saturday, with Saturday adoption hours from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Shelter officials also expressed appreciation to community members who continue donating newspapers, which are used daily to help care for the animals.
For those considering adoption, the staff encourages visitors not to become discouraged if a particular pet has already found a home.
“If that animal next to him or under him has already been chosen, there are plenty of other cats looking for homes,” staff said.
Visitors can identify available animals by looking for white index cards displayed on kennels and cages.
