Goldsboro, N.C. – During its regularly scheduled meeting on June 1, the Wayne County Board of Education approved several principal and district leadership appointments that will take effect July 1, 2026.
Principal Appointments
Kenneth Angel was named principal of Brogden Middle School. Mr. Angel currently serves as principal of Rosewood High School and brings 18 years of teaching and school administration experience. He has served in his current role since 2022 and holds a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in school administration.
Dr. Ashley L. Dozier was named principal of Dillard Middle School. Dr. Dozier currently serves as Alternative Learning Program Coordinator for Connections Learning Academy in Edgecombe County and has nine years of teaching and school administration experience. She has served in her current role since 2025 and holds a bachelor’s degree in middle grades English language arts and social studies, a master’s degree in school administration, and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction.
Thomas Presley was named principal of Greenwood Middle School. Mr. Presley currently serves as assistant principal at Glendale-Kenly Elementary School in Johnston County and has 13 years of teaching and school administration experience. He has served in his current role since 2024 and holds a bachelor’s degree in sports management with a minor in mathematics and a master’s degree in school administration with curriculum and instruction supervision.
“Each of these principals brings valuable teaching and administrative experience that will benefit the students, staff, and families they serve,” said Dr. Marc Whichard, Superintendent. “Our district leadership team will support each principal throughout the summer transition and as they continue building on the academic success of their schools in the coming year.”
Assistant Principal Appointments
In addition to the principal appointments, the Board approved the following assistant principal changes:
- Sharon Britt, assistant principal at Fremont Elementary School, was named assistant principal at Spring Creek High School.
- Shaconda Ford, assistant principal at Brogden Primary School, was named assistant principal at Brogden Middle School.
- Kelly Herring, a first-grade teacher at Carver Elementary School, was named assistant principal at Carver Elementary School.
- Dawn Herring, interim principal at Meadow Lane Elementary School, was named assistant principal serving Grantham Middle School and Mount Olive Middle School.
- Laurie Keck, assistant principal serving Greenwood Middle School and Rosewood Middle School, was named assistant principal at Rosewood High School.
- William Lee, Jr., assistant principal at Eastern Wayne High School, was named assistant principal at Eastern Wayne Middle School.
- Amber Sauls, K-1 interventionist at Fremont Elementary School, was named assistant principal at Fremont Elementary School.
- Bethany Stewart, history teacher at Wayne School of Engineering, was named assistant principal at Wayne School of Engineering.
- Sherida Suggs, assistant principal at Brogden Middle School, was named assistant principal at Eastern Wayne High School.
- Samuel Walden, Jr., assistant principal at Eastern Wayne High School, was named assistant principal serving Greenwood Middle School and Rosewood Middle School.
- Monique Wilson-Thomas, assistant principal serving Grantham Middle School and Mount Olive Middle School, was named assistant principal at Grantham Elementary School.
