May 26, 2026, 86, Goldsboro – Lynda Daniels Hill died on May 26, 2026 at Eagle’s Pointe Assisted Living Center in Goldsboro.
Born in Goldsboro on September 8, 1939 to the late Mary Daly Cahoon and Jackson Isaac Daniels.
Survived by her husband of 64 yrs, Robert Edwin “Bob” Hill, sons, Robert Edwin “Bobby” Hill Jr. of Goldsboro and Daniel Parker Hill of Alabama, sister, Nelda Montague Ogilvie of Sanford and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Betty D. Kidd of Charlotte.
Lynda was a graduate of Goldsboro High School in 1957 and Wilson School of Nursing in 1960.
She thoroughly enjoyed her Registered Nurse career of 50 years and could never imagine working in any other profession. Having worked mainly in administrative positions, she did begin her nursing career as a Staff Nurse on the Post- partum unit at the old Goldsboro Hospital on Herman Street. After a couple of years she resigned and worked in psychiatry at Cherry Hospital for over ten years as Chief of Medical-Surgical Services where she was their first nurse to wear a pantsuit uniform. She also donated her nurse’s cape to the Cherry Hospital Museum. Then she worked many years in long term care with Oak Manor Group as the Personnel/In-Service Director, Director of Nursing and then was promoted to Corporate Nursing Director where she performed on-site compliance reviews of their nursing facilities in N.C., Kentucky, and Tennessee. She retired in 2010 from the Education Dept. at 3HC/KAHC as the Hospice Educator. In addition, she assisted with the Nursing Assistant Program at Wayne Community College.
Lynda was a Life-Long member of Daniels Chapel Church where she served on the Finance, Altar Guild, CD Ministry, and Staff/Parish Committees. She was also interested and active in attendance in the Golden K Kiwanis Club where she was made an honorary member.
She loved her family and absolutely loved spending time with her husband who was her very best friend and the “love of her life.” Where you would see one, you would normally see the other. She also loved Gracie, their house cat, who was very special and extremely smart. She was their only “grand- child”.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 4, 2026 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Lynda’s life at 1:00 p.m. in in the chapel with Pastor Jeremiah Wright officiating. Inurnment will also follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3739 National Drive, Suite 110, Raleigh, NC 27612 or to Daniels Chapel Church, 2802 E. Ash Street, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
