March 1, 2026, 65, Mount Olive – David Charles Matthews, 65, of Mt. Olive, NC passed away peacefully in his home on March 1, 2026.
David is survived by his brothers Douglas M. Matthews of Raleigh, NC and Dennis J. Matthews of Orlando, FL. David spent the last 34 years with his beloved partner, Linda Sullivan Stephens and her family.
He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and golfer. His happiest times were when he was outdoors pursuing these hobbies. David spent many years in the flooring industry, and was employed by Butterball, LLC in Mt Olive, NC until his retirement.
A celebration of life is planned for Saturday, May 23, 2026 at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mt. Olive.
