GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Four Wayne County organizations have received statewide recognition for their impact on the community during the 2025 North Carolina Spirit Awards hosted by United Way of North Carolina.
The awards ceremony was held May 13 at Parker Poe in downtown Raleigh and recognized organizations across the state for outstanding leadership, innovation, collaboration, and community engagement. Only 16 awards were presented among 47 local United Ways statewide.
Wayne County recipients included:
- ALTA Foods — Community Resiliency Award
- Wayne County Chamber of Commerce — Intentional Inclusion Award
- Downtown Goldsboro Development Corporation — Leaders in Volunteering Award
- County of Wayne — Sustainability Through Engagement Award
United Way of Wayne County Executive Director Sherry Archibald said the awards highlight the strong partnerships and community-focused work taking place across Wayne County.
“These awards highlight the incredible work happening right here in Wayne County,” Archibald said. “Each of these organizations represents what it means to lead with purpose—strengthening our community through resilience, inclusion, volunteerism, and sustainable engagement. We are honored to partner with them and celebrate their well-deserved recognition on a statewide stage.”
The North Carolina Spirit Awards honor organizations and community partners that demonstrate measurable impact and a commitment to improving lives through the mission of United Way.
United Way of Wayne County continues to work alongside local partners to address key community challenges, including poverty and long-term financial stability, through collaborative programs and strategic initiatives.
The organization says the recognition reflects the dedication of local businesses, nonprofits, and government leaders working together to strengthen Wayne County communities.
