May 3, 2026, 89, Goldsboro – Wilma Freeman Thurlow, 89, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026 at The Indigo at Pikeville. Born in Taylor County, Georgia on April 13, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Amos Freeman and Alma Amerson Freeman Garrett.
In addition to her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Harry Linwood “Hap” Thurlow, Jr. and her eight siblings, Eloise, Eugene, Mildred, Philip, Paul, Sydney, Billy, and Bobby.
Wilma is survived by her daughters, Sylvia Pacer and Donna Douglas (David); grandchildren, Jason Ham (Lindsey), Tyler Ham (Gabriella), Ashley Dunford (Sean), Philip Pacer (Katherine), and Drew Douglas (Sarah); great-grandchildren, Harper, Lucy, Bailey, Hudson, Anna, Carson, Nola, Oliver, and Lucas; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Wilma was a longtime member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base where she served as a lector.
Wilma enjoyed being active with family and friends. She was an avid bowler and pinochle player. Wilma loved traveling and going camping with her husband, daughters, and grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Wilma’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2026 in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Deacon John Dugan officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
