April 28, 2026, 73, Goldsboro – Leonard William Smith, 73, entered into rest on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Leonard was born on October 22, 1952, in Cuthbert, Georgia, to the late Wilbur Franklin Smith and Beatrice Henderson Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Franklin Smith and a sister, Jennifer Gail Smith.
Leonard enjoyed hiking and was a true nature lover. He loved to travel, his favorite place to visit was the Grand Canyon. He enjoyed visiting all the state parks, especially Crowder Mountain State Park. He was faithful about giving blood and platelets to the American Red Cross. Leonard was always willing to help anyone, no matter the need, whenever he was asked. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Leonard leaves behind to cherish his memory his sisters, Brenda Smith Jones and husband, Ernest of Pikeville, NC, and Eula Smith Henry and husband, Ed of Harrisburg, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to The American Red Cross Blood Drives.
