GOLSBORO, NC – Wayne Preparatory Academy recently celebrated student creativity with its inaugural K–12 Scholar Art Show, transforming its middle school gym into a vibrant gallery space on April 23.
Families, staff, and community members gathered for the special evening event, which showcased artwork from students ranging from kindergarten through high school seniors. The gymnasium was converted into a walk-through exhibit filled with a wide variety of artistic styles and mediums, highlighting the talent and imagination of scholars across all grade levels.
Soft jazz music created a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere as guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres while taking in the student artwork. The event marked a milestone for the school, offering a new way to celebrate academic and creative achievement.
School leaders emphasized the important role art educators play in student development. Through hands-on instruction and ongoing encouragement, teachers help scholars build both artistic skills and confidence.
“We are so incredibly proud of our scholars and the creativity they bring to our campus,” said Chief Operating Officer Rebecca Whittle. “This art show is a reminder of just how talented our scholars and teachers are, and we’re really hoping to make this a tradition.”
The K–12 Scholar Art Show reflects the school’s broader commitment to whole-child education, with a strong emphasis on the arts as a vital part of student growth and expression.
